Description
Dave Whitlock's NearNuff Sculpin is a weighted streamer that suggests a bottom-dwelling sculpin. Rainy's tie is useful for trout and smallmouth bass feeding along rocks, seams, and the edges of deeper runs.
Performance
Let it sink, then use short strips with pauses or a controlled swing close to the bottom. Adjust the presentation to keep the fly near the fish without continually dragging it through rocks.
Why we use it
A sculpin profile offers a substantial meal when trout are looking below the surface, especially when smaller insect patterns are drawing little attention.
