Fly Tying Flash
Flash material is used in fly tying to add shine and attractiveness to flies, making them more enticing to fish. Typically made from thin, reflective strands of Mylar or similar materials, flash is incorporated into various parts of the fly, such as the tail, body, or wing. It mimics the glint of fish scales or the shimmering movement of aquatic insects, enhancing the fly's visibility in the water. Flash can be used sparingly for subtle effects or in larger quantities for a more pronounced, eye-catching appearance.
