Fishing skiff traveling through the shallow tidal waterways of South Andros

South Andros, at your pace.

Guided days on the flats. A beachfront retreat to share.

South Andros gives an angler room to work. Shallow flats, tidal creeks and mangrove shorelines create a fishery that rewards observation, a well-placed fly and a guide who knows how the water moves. Caerula Mar Club puts that fishing within reach of a refined beachfront stay.

Based at Driggs Hill, the resort combines Clubhouse Suites and Private Villas with dining, a pool and opportunities to explore the island above and below the surface. Arrange a morning on the flats or build more full fishing days into the trip. There is room for both a serious interest in bonefish and the people you want beside you when the fishing day ends.

We see the strongest fit in a shared vacation: one traveler can pursue bonefish while another enjoys the beach, an island outing or a treatment at the spa. Tell us how much fishing you want, who is traveling and the pace you prefer. We will help shape the stay around those priorities.

Find your fit

Who is this trip for?

Caerula Mar is a strong choice for anglers who want South Andros bonefishing as part of a comfortable island vacation. It is particularly appealing to couples and mixed groups with different interests, where the accommodations, food and time away together matter as much as the fishing.

  • Choose guided half days when you want time for the resort afterward, or request full days to give the fishing more room.
  • Match a Clubhouse Suite or Private Villa to your preferred level of space, privacy and room arrangement.
  • Discuss your fishing goals before booking so guide availability, accommodation and travel connections fit the same plan.

Our advice: decide how many days you want on the water first. That gives us a useful starting point for the rest of the trip.

The Stay

Your base on South Andros

Caerula Mar Club sits beside the beach at Driggs Hill on the island's eastern shore. The property brings together a quiet coastal setting, contemporary rooms and a relaxed pool area. It is well suited to a trip where fishing days and time at the resort both deserve attention.

Clubhouse Suites

The suites sit close to the resort's central amenities and offer a king bed or two queen beds, depending on the room. Private outdoor seating gives you a place to start the morning or unwind afterward. Room category, bedding and permitted occupancy are confirmed for your reservation.

Private Villas

Villas offer more space and privacy, with oceanview and oceanfront choices and a private porch. Layouts vary, including options for couples and guests needing additional beds. We will help match the available configuration to your group.

Comfort between fishing days

Room amenities include air conditioning, complimentary Wi-Fi, daily housekeeping, an in-room safe, robes and a hairdryer. Minibar items carry additional charges. Island internet service can be slower or less consistent than at home.

Dining

Switcha serves coffee, pastries and lighter fare. Driffs provides casual poolside dining, while Lusca offers breakfast and dinner in the clubhouse. Dinner menus follow the ingredients available. Share dietary requirements when planning your stay, and confirm the meals and beverages included in your particular reservation.

Beyond the flats

Beach time, the pool and available recreational equipment make it easy to keep an afternoon open. Guided snorkeling, diving, mangrove kayaking, blue-hole visits, boat excursions and spa appointments can also be arranged. Availability, weather and additional charges depend on the activity.

Travel

Arrive through Congo Town

Congo Town Airport is the arrival point for South Andros. Ground transfers between the airport and Caerula Mar are included; the drive is approximately 10 minutes.

Via South Florida

Makers Air operates flights from Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport, FXE, to Congo Town. The flight takes approximately one hour. FXE is separate from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, FLL, so travelers arriving there on a commercial airline need time for a ground transfer and check-in.

Via Nassau

Western Air provides service from Nassau to Congo Town, with a flight time of approximately 20 minutes. Operating days and connection options should be checked for your dates before the resort reservation is finalized.

Plan the connection

We recommend confirming the complete route, transfer arrangements and baggage allowances before purchasing flights. Small-aircraft limits matter when packing rod tubes and fishing equipment. Allow a practical margin between connections.

Arrival and departure

Standard resort check-in is 3 p.m. and check-out is 11 a.m. Share flight details in advance so transfers can be coordinated. Early access or a late departure arrangement depends on availability.

Angler fly fishing while wading the shallow flats of South Andros

Fishing

Bonefish are the focus

The primary draw is sight fishing for bonefish across South Andros. Local guides work oceanfront flats, tidal creeks and bights, selecting water around the tide, weather and the angler. More distant areas, including the West Side, should be discussed with the guide when arranging the trip.

Build your fishing days

The resort arranges guided half-day and full-day outings. Departures use nearby Driggs Hill Dock, a short drive from the property. Half days offer about four hours on the water. Full days allow more time to explore South Bight and other suitable areas. Picnic food and drinks can be arranged separately.

Skiff fishing and wading

Expect a shallow-draft skiff and opportunities to wade where tides and footing allow. Tell us how comfortable you are standing in a boat or walking a flat so the plan can account for your preferences. The day's conditions determine the approach.

Experience and equipment

Guides accommodate different experience levels and have basic fly and spinning tackle available. The resort recommends bringing your own fishing equipment when possible. For dedicated fly anglers, we will help review the outfit, leaders and fly selection before departure.

  • An 8- or 9-weight fly rod is the suggested starting point.
  • Bring 9- to 12-foot saltwater leaders in 12- and 16-pound strengths.
  • Gotchas, Crazy Charlies and Clouser Minnows in sizes 2 and 4 are on the recommended list.
  • Pack polarized glasses, flats boots, a hat, sun clothing, a light rain jacket and insect repellent.

Prepare for the shot

We recommend practicing quick, accurate casts from a ready position, with enough line control to make a second presentation. Time spent delivering a fly cleanly and managing loose line is useful preparation for a day on the flats. We can help you work through the equipment and casting questions before you leave.

Other opportunities

Ask about other species if they are a priority. Tarpon and permit opportunities require a specific discussion about timing, water and tackle. We would build this trip around bonefish and confirm any additional fishing goals in advance.

Guided fishing is arranged separately from the room reservation unless your written quote specifically includes it. Confirm guide availability before committing to travel dates.

FAQs

Will a companion who does not fish enjoy the trip?

That is one of the strongest reasons to consider Caerula Mar. The beach, pool, dining and optional island excursions give companions their own ways to spend the day. We can help balance fishing time with activities you want to share.

Do I need previous saltwater experience?

Previous experience is helpful, but the resort welcomes beginners and arranges outings around the guest's ability. Tell us your background so we can help you prepare and communicate your goals to the guide.

Is this an all-inclusive fishing package?

Stays are customized. Accommodation, fishing, dining and other activities should be reviewed as separate components unless your quote expressly combines them. We will make the inclusions clear before you book.

Can I borrow fishing tackle?

Basic guide tackle is available, but personal equipment is recommended for anglers who want a familiar outfit. Confirm any borrowed rods, reels and flies in advance.

Can children stay?

The resort's published policy welcomes children ages 10 and older. It does not provide childcare, lifeguards or a dedicated children's activity program. Tell us the ages in your group so accommodation and activities can be checked.

Is Wi-Fi available?

Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the resort. Speeds may be slower and interruptions more common than at home, so plan around the island setting if you need to work.

When can I travel?

The fishery is available across the year, but the resort has a seasonal closure in late summer and fall. Exact closure and reopening dates vary. We will confirm resort dates and guide availability for your proposed trip.

How many nights should I plan?

Start with the number of fishing days and the amount of time you want at the resort. Minimum stays can change by date and offer. We will confirm the requirement and flight connections together.
