Fly Tying Class is a hands-on, in-shop learning experience for every angler. Taught inside our shop at 8307 Manchester Road, sessions run from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and focus on practical, real-world skills you can apply on the water. Each class is led by our shop manager, Jim Murphy, whose decades of tying and on-the-water experience guide every technique.

Structured progression comes from focusing on a specific set of patterns each session. Beginner classes cover foundational patterns like Zebra Midge, San Juan Worm, and Wooly Bugger, teaching essential skills that translate to real results. Advanced classes dive into pattern-specific, more technical designs and modern techniques for tiers looking to push their craft. Kids Fly Tying Classes are for ages 8-15, led by 13-year-old Harrison Mace and supervised by Jim Murphy.

All materials, tools, and tying equipment are provided, so you can dive straight into tying without bringing anything. You’ll learn to select materials, match hook sizes, and master both classic and contemporary techniques. You’ll leave with finished flies and the knowledge to keep tying at home. Small-group sessions foster a supportive, focused environment.
