Feather Craft Dyed Turkey Rounds are tough "feather-fibers" perfect for sizes-12 thru 24 fly bodies. These dyed fibers provide durable density and consistent texture for reliable wraps on every tie.
For specific builds, use 6/7 fibers for the body on Ed's F-C "Crackleback" in size-12. For a size-24 F-C Grey-Whispy, one or two fibers are enough. Tie the fibers in by their tip-top ends, all at the same time at the end of the hook shank. Wrap thread forward. Hold the butt-ends of the fibers with fingers, and wrap forward to build the body. We only tie with a true-rotary vise; the vise wraps them for me, delivering a clean, uniform body every time. Mix light and dark fibers to create a variegated body.
