When Flip Pallot challenged ECHO to answer a simple question—“Who wouldn’t want more line speed?”—the OverCast series was born. Designed in collaboration with Tim Rajeff, OverCast fly rods are purpose-built for saltwater anglers facing the usual saltwater challenges: wind, distance, accuracy demands, and heavier flies.
After extensive testing, the team determined that increased line speed starts with a precisely engineered, longer lever. The result is a 9’3” rod that balances power, control, and casting efficiency without compromise.
Flip’s vision pushed ECHO beyond traditional design limits, prioritizing performance over cost and redefining what a high-end saltwater fly rod should be.

Legacy Design:
The OverCast series represents over a year of development and testing, much of it spent in Florida’s toughest saltwater conditions. Though Flip passed before final production, his vision, creativity, and passion are fully realized in the OverCast rod series. Flip’s OverCast will remain his lasting legacy at ECHO and a benchmark for our future saltwater rod designs.
