Introduction to Fly Fishing Course at Westover Farms is a full-day, hands-on program designed to move beginners toward confident on-water execution. Hosted at Westover Farms in Steelville, Missouri, the course blends focused classroom instruction with guided time on the water to accelerate your learning.
A structured progression moves you from understanding to execution. Morning sessions cover gear systems: rod, line, leader, tippet; essential knots; fish behavior; and bug fundamentals including nymphs, dries, and terrestrials. In the afternoon, you read water, choose approaches, and execute with refinement on productive water.

Materials provided include leaders, tippet, and full fly selection with a fly box, split shot, strike indicators, line clippers and nippers. Note-taking materials are provided; fly rod, reel, and line rental available for 25 dollars. Participants should bring sunglasses, hemostats or forceps, a hat, and a small gear bag.
